*******************LOUD TECHNOLOGIES INC.************************ ------- ReadMe File for the Digital X Bus FireWire Card --------- ------------- written 8/5/2005 for Version 1.0 ------------------ Congratulations on your purchase of the new Digital X Bus FireWire Card! Some important things to know before you start: 1. You must be running Software Version 1.1.037 on your Digital X Bus for the FireWire Card to function properly. Go to Windows>About to determine if you are running the latest build. If not, go to http://www.mackie.com/products/digitalxbus/software.html and download build 1.1.037 to your computer to update your console. 2. The FireWire Card is only compatible with Mac OS 10.3.5 (or higher) and Windows XP. All hardware requirements are listed in the User Guide (also included on this CD). 3. The FireWire Card is only supported by ASIO, WDM, or OS X Core Audio supported audio applications. 4. You need to supply you own FireWire Cable to attach the FireWire Card to your computer. For PC users, take note of whether or not you have a built-in FireWire (IEEE 1394) port on your computer, or if you need to use a PCI or PCMCIA FireWire Card. In any case, be sure you have the correct cable to connect. Here's what to do to get started: 1. Remove the FireWire Card from the packaging, being very careful not to touch any of the circuits or components on the card itself. 2. Turn off your Digital X Bus Mixer. 3. Choose a card slot in which you want to install the FireWire Card. To use the higher channel Host Modes (such as 16x16 and 24x24), you must install the FireWire Card into the first slot (the one farthest to the right) of either Bucket A, B, or C. We recommend inserting the FireWire Card into the very first slot on the mixer (Slot #1, farthest to the right). Please see the Release Notes included on this CD for complete information on the slot configuration. When you install the card, make sure it is not already connected to an external computer. Also, make sure to screw in the bracket holders into place to keep the card seated securely. 4. Turn on the Digital X Bus and let it boot up completely. 5. Go to Windows>I/O Configuration and verify you can see the FireWire Card in the Card Cage GUI. 6. Open the Clock Settings Panel and set up your desired sampling rate, clock source, and time code settings. Touch-select the "OK" button in the Reconnect Dialog window that will pop up. 7. Touch-select the FireWire Card in the I/O Configuration Panel and select the Host Mode you want to use. Again, touch-select the "OK" button in the Reconnect Dialog window that will pop up. 8. Launch the "FW User Guide v1.0.pdf" file from this CD. 9. Go to the relevant section for your platform (Mac OS X or Windows XP PC) and follow the instructions on getting the FireWire Card connected to your computer.
