The Mix Editor
gives you an interactive, visual display of almost everything that
can change (or be changed) on a channel: Fader levels, mutes, L/R
and front/rear pans, digital trim, aux and cue levels, cue pans,
bus and L/R assignments, phase reverse, soft-knee compression toggle,
and Key Input attenuator level/EQ gain/EQ frequency/EQ bandwidth.
In fact, we've added so much stuff that we've been able to eliminate
a separate Event List - everything is now graphically displayed.
You can view
all the parameters of a single channel or the same parameter on
multiple channels, such as 12 fader level tracks stack above one
another.
The mix editor
is obviously a lot more than a display. It's an interactive editor
with multiple tool cursors that lets you edit automation data over
variable time intervals. Just grab a point and move it with the
mouse to finetune a parameter. Or, cut, copy and paste automation
sequences to new spots on the time line. "Auto Follow"
changes the Mix Editor display as you change functions, for example
switching to EQ parameters when you rotate an EQ knob.
The Mix Editor
is equipped with multiple cursor tools such as Pointer, for creating
new automation points and moving existing ones; Highlighter, to
select data by time and channel; Eraser and Magnify.
New 3.0 features
include view sizing arrows, SMPTE/bars:beats:ticks time code boxes,
loop-in/loop-out, punch in/punch out and locate markers, contextual
right mouse button activation of track parameters and time bars.
If you haven't
used a serious automation system before, the Mix Editor is the door
to a whole new world of creativity and craftsmanship. It means saying
goodbye to hurried, "on-the-fly" mixdown adjustments.
You can fine-tune automated parameters without even having to play
back a track.
The Automation
and the Mix Editor have an associated History List that allows up
to 200 levels of undo and redo.
