It's
a beautiful thing. A complete visual representation of a channel's
effects, channel selection, aux sends, and digital trim status.
Double-click on a channel Select button when you need it. Hide it
when you don't.
Equalizer.
Adjust the 12 soft knobs and see the results in the graphical EQ
window. Or drag numeric values or actual EQ curves with the mouse.
You can select
from British EQ with low-band/high-pass filter, two mid-parametric
bands, and a high-band/low-pass filter; British H/P EQ with low-band/high
pass filter and three upper parametric bands; 4-band Parametric
EQ with analog-style overlaps; or 20/20 EQ with four parametric
bands, each sweepable anywhere from 20Hz to 20kHz. EQ types can
be saved and recalled with patches and sessions - and can be copied
to the clipboard for pasting to other channels.
Note that you
can set two EQ memories for quick A/B comparisons. You can also
create a time-variable Morph between the two memory settings. This
is a way-cool exclusive Mackie D8B feature.
Compressor
and Gate are pretty straight-forward (that's the whole point
of the Fat Channel... analog-like ease of use). The "VU"
Reduction and Signal meters are really dB FS displays reading -20
to 0. As with EQ, you can set and toggle between two different Compressor
and Gate settings.
Channel Select
lets you quickly flip between channels, assign a channel to a bus,
or swap phase. You can assign a channel to a direct-out by clicking
on one of the green Route To Tape buttons. Version 3.0 now includes
Pre-DSP Insert and Post DSP Insert options and Input Keying dynamics.
Finally, we've included a separate Dynamics EQ function which can
be adjusted via the Fat Channel EQ controls.
Aux Sends
and Digi Trim sections duplicate V-Pot functions in greater
detail.
