CPU FRONT PANEL

The rest of the Digital 8•Bus - including some of its niftiest features - is housed in a 3-rack-space external box called the remote cpu.

Front Panel of CPU. Wanna See it BIGGER?

INSIDE: Mondo computer on board.
Lurking inside the mild-mannered chassis is a powerful, dedicated Pentium®-compatible computer complete with 32 MB of RAM, a spacious hard disk, SVGA video and Ethernet cards, and keyboard and mouse connections.

3.5-inch floppy drive. On the front of the remote CPU (along with the obligatory power switch) is a PC-compatible, HD floppy drive. It can be used to load additional software or save sessions. The drive can read and write pre-formatted DOS-compatible disks.

Ethernet connector. RJ-45 socket accepts standard network plugs. Use it to cascade two D8B’s solo control logic, mutes, transports, etc… or connect one or more Digital 8•Bus’s to Mac’s or PC’s via a LAN for transfer of session files and EQ/Effects libraries.

Color Monitor port
lets you attach an optional SVGA monitor for display of many console functions including fader banks, DSP and effects, surround sound, software library, and file management. Video pixel resolution is an impressive 1024 x 768 (8-bits), so the monitor must be 72Hz or better. See your dealer for monitor recommendations.

Keyboard port accepts DIN 5 PC-compatible QWERTY keyboards as an alternative method of accessing many D8B functions. You can use a PS/2 (5-pin DIN) keyboard with an adaptor.

Mouse port connects with most PS/2™-format mice or trackballs.

OS 3.0's MIDI Map feature adds complete I/O control to the console via MIDI:

MIDI IN is used to bring in MIDI Time Code (MTC) from a Modular Digital Multitrack (MDM) or other external device. It can also be used to receive MIDI Program Changes from outboard gear.

MIDI OUT sends all D8B MIDI commands to recorders or other MIDI-compatible devices as well as mapping D8B controls to external MIDI device parameters.

Console Data port links the CPU to the main console via a 15- foot 25-pin cable (provided).

Power Supply cable delivers smooth, triple-filtered juice to the console via the BGRCT (grounded power cord).

IEC power connectors. Well, you’d hardly expect us to use a giant wall wart. The female IEC connector can be used to power an optional SVGA monitor, espresso machine, or electric chainsaw.
