NEW MACKIE PASSIVE LOUDSPEAKERS INTRODUCED AT MUSIKMESSE

Frankfurt, Germany - April 6, 2005 - Following their sneak preview at the NAMM show in January, Mackie is using the Musikmesse/Pro Light and Sound Convention in Frankfurt to officially introduce their new S200 Series and C Series passive loudspeakers.

The perfect complement for any powered mixer or amplifier, the Mackie S200 Series loudspeakers include two mid/high boxes, the S215 and S225. The S215 is a two-way loudspeaker that features a single 15-inch woofer with a nearly indestructible high-temperature voice coil. The larger S225 features two of these same everlasting woofers. In both models, a high-output, 1.75-inch titanium dome compression driver with optimized symmetric phase plug handles the high frequencies. The driver/crossover combination allows the S215 to handle up to 1400 watts of peak power, deliver a peak SPL of 130dB, with a frequency response of 55Hz to 20kHz. The S225 can handle up to 2800 watts of peak power, deliver a peak SPL of 135dB, with a frequency response of 46Hz to 20kHz.

Rounding out the new Mackie S Series is the S218s Subwoofer, an 18-inch high-power low-frequency subwoofer in a bass-reflex designed cabinet. The S218s can handle up to 2000 watts of peak power, deliver a peak SPL of 128dB, with a frequency response of 38Hz to 360kHz.

S200 Series cabinets are constructed using ultra-tough 18mm Baltic birch plywood and pressure-injected structural resin. The rugged enclosures, which employ integrated carrying handles and molded corners, work in concert with the driver/crossover combination to allow the S200 Series loudspeakers to deliver extremely high sound pressure levels while retaining a very natural sound. All models of the S200 Series accept either Neutrik Speakon connectors, or female ¼-inch TRS.

But wait, there's more….
In addition to the larger S Series, Mackie is also introducing the more compact C Series portable PA speakers. Designed for optimum performance with Mackie powered mixers and power amps, the C Series loudspeakers are passive versions of Mackie's popular SRM450 and SRM350 portable active loudspeakers. The C200 and C300z, an updated version of the current Mackie C300, both feature injection-molded composite chassis that are rigid enough to prevent unwanted vibrations and standing waves inside the cabinet, but light enough to keep any touring musician out of traction well into their 70s.

Even though they are the smallest passive speakers in Mackie's line, both the C200 and C300z take advantage of high-concept acoustic science. The crossover in the C Series is a unique Low Impedance Compensated Crossover (LICC) design. With EQ and crossover points meticulously chosen so that beam-width patterns match in both drivers, C Series loudspeakers offer natural sound at all volume levels.

Both the C200 and C300z have built-in flypoints for hanging, and a socket on the bottom for mounting on commercially available speaker stands. In addition, their trapezoidal shape allows them to function as a floor wedge for stage monitor applications.

The C200 can handle up to 500 watts of peak power, deliver a peak SPL of 118dB, and offers a frequency response of 59Hz to 22kHz. The larger C300z can handle up to 600 watts of peak power, deliver a peak SPL of 123dB, with a frequency response of 45Hz to 20kHz.

The new S215 has a manufacturer's retail value of 498 Euros, ($549 US), the S225 is priced at 789 Euros, ($849 US), and the S218s is priced at 649 Euros, ($699 US). The C200 has a manufacturer's retail value of 399 Euros, ($459 US) while the C300z is priced at 489 Euros, ($529 US). The S200 Series will be available early in Q3, 2005. The C Series passive loudspeakers are now available.

The S200 Series and C Series passive loudspeakers, along with Mackie's SR Series and SA Series active sound reinforcement loudspeakers, are currently on display at the Musikmesse/Pro Light and Sound Convention in Frankfurt, Germany, April 6-9, 2005, Hall 4.1, stand F51.
