MACKIE INTRODUCES FIRST DJ MIXER AT DJ EXPO IN ATLANTIC CITY
Company Launches "King of the d.2" Contest with More Than $5,000 in Prizes
Atlantic City, NJ – August 16, 2005 – DJ Expo: Mackie is using the DJ Expo to officially launch their first entry into the DJ mixer market—the Mackie d.2, a 2-channel scratch mixer featuring celebrated Mackie mic and turntable preamps as well as a revolutionary FireWire option card for playback and recording via a Mac or PC computer. In conjunction with this launch, Mackie is also hosting the "King of the d.2" contest, which offers show attendees a chance to win their own d.2 mixer as well as a complete Mackie sound system, a prize package valued at more than $5,000.
The revolutionary Mackie d.2 benefits from hallmark technologies including intelligent ergonomics, bulletproof construction, premium analog VCA circuitry, and ultra high-performance components – including an Infinium® optical crossfader. The d.2 also features legendary Mackie mic and turntable preamps, 3-position spring-loaded transform switches, smooth analog EQ with blue backlit knobs and plenty of headroom for a wide, open "analog" sound.
Most notably, the d.2 is the first DJ mixer with optional FireWire connectivity, letting DJs mix in mp3 or other audio files directly from a Mac or PC laptop, or record DJ sets directly to their computers. The d.Series FireWire I/O card installs in seconds and allows users a direct digital audio interface with their computer. The d.Series FireWire option card is compatible with such popular applications as Traktor, Live, Serato, PCDJ, Mix Vibes, Mackie Tracktion, Garage Band, iTunes and Windows Media Player.
"The Mackie d.2 is the most solid DJ mixer I've ever used," commented DJ Tone, Mackie evangelist and one of Seattle's top club DJs. "The layout is so simple and comfortable, and it produces cleaner, punchier mixes compared to the other mixers out there. By having the FireWire connection, the d.2 just takes things to a whole new level... I can mix files right from my laptop."
In conjunction with the launch of the d.2, Mackie is hosting their "King of the d.2" contest in demo room 307 at the DJ Expo. As part of this contest, contestants are invited to lay down a live mix and be judged by DJs Jen and Tone. The top 10 performances will be posted online at www.mackie.com where visitors will vote to crown the first national "King of the d.2" in September.
The new d.2 DJ Mixer and d.Series FireWire option card are currently on display at the International DJ Expo in Atlantic City at the Atlantic City Convention Center, August 15-18, 2005, Mackie booth 605. Mackie d.2 has an MSRP of $799.99 and the d.Series FireWire option card has an MSRP of $299.99. Both will be available early Q4.
