Mixer Mixer
I know you want a story about how I dropped my mixer, ran over it with a truck, or fished it out of the toilet and it kept on working. None of those things ever happened to my Mackie1402VLZ, but it has treated me very well these last, what almost 15 years now?
Originally I bought my 1402VLZ to expand the number of inputs on my home stereo. Not long after that, I started recording live concerts, and used the 1402's excellent mic preamps and level metering to make great digital recordings.
Over the years, my Mackie mixer has been used for all sorts of things, and it performs flawlessly in every situation. The audio channels are completely noise-free, and the metering lets me know exactly how much headroom I have left before peaking, so I never get any clipping in my recordings. I can show up at a recording session with my Mackie 1402 and I *know* I will get a good recording. There are never any surprises.
At the moment, my Mackie 1402 VLZ mixer is the heart of my home synth studio, where it obediently mixes the outputs of all my hardware synths, and allows monitoring of my Firebox audio interface.
Would I ever part with my Mackie 1402 VLZ? You'd have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands!
