My Mackie Story :
I started with the 1202VLZ then later the CR1604 VLZ. It was years before I learned how to properly use the two mixers. I can't believe they sound so good after redlining them for at least the first year I had them. During this time I bought an SRM 450 when they first came out. I used it as a main for a long time and as a monitor when my friend's Mackies were available (bought on my recommendation). I now have the Onyx 16:20 and firewire card. It only has some 30 live shows on it when I wanted to record them. The SRM 450 is by far the most abused piece of gear I use. All of my stuff except the Onyx was spilled on multiple times. Speakers on stands have landed on the boards as well. Not to mention power outages and thunderstorms. Everything still works great and gets used HEAVILY. I'm convinced the SRM 450 was designed by an alien heavy metal civilization. It has ended up falling off the backs of drum risers after crowds stomped them-- chords yanked out. then I'd quickly plug everything back in with a hot signal and ignore the beer that poured out of the horn.
