Analog 8-Bus
I worked for Atlanta Audio Labs as monitor engineer. At the time, monitor boards were limited to a few expensive choices. Being on a budget, we had to get creative. So we bought a new Mackie 8-bus and used a Dremel to cut the circuit boards off below the balance pots. That gave us room to add 5 more volume pots to the board where the faders were. We used flashing for the mounting surface. We were using an 8-bus for FOH also. We did production for several well known bands in Atlanta and around the region. Some of their sound guys questioned using a Mackie for these large events until sound check. The honestly clean and clear sound of the 8-bus's preamps won them over. We have never had a problem with any of our Mackie products. I also bought an SR24-4 bus and jumped the internal leads to make it a 24 by 8 monitor board for my B system. I had to have help with how to jump the connections, so I called Mackie, got a tech on the phone right away, told him what I wanted to do. He had instructions mailed to me, no charge, that made it easy. Dealing with a company like Mackie and then dealing with anybody else makes you really appreciate Mackie's customer service.
