SRM
The Tim and Bob Show relies on the quality of our vocals. We need clarity and fidelity across the range from soprano to baritone-bass. Because of this, we use Mackie SRM450s. These powered speakers provide the quality reproduction that fits our style.
We play at a variety of venues in South Texas, but one of our favorites is a huge patio sheltered by their Live Oak trees. There’s always a breeze there that is very refreshing on hot, humid days. On windy days, however … . November 14, 2008 featured strong, swirling winds. Gusts from behind us blew over mike stands during our sound check, and by the time we started playing, the winds had switched directions to blow over the gravel driveway directly into our faces. Dirt was already encrusting our equipment by our third song at which time one of our Mackie’s teetered and finally fell face down. Band members and fans rushed to right it, and we continued to play. Luckily, none of the free-range children was near the speaker when it fell. Ever mindful of the weather, we lowered the speakers a bit, but it was due to the resilience of the equipment that we finished the gig with no more drama.
Since then, we’ve played dozens of gigs. We still find dirt everywhere, and we’ve had to duct-tape the speaker stand, but the Mackie SRM450 keeps reproducing the blend of guitar and vocals that are The Tim and Bob Show’s keynote. Why use anything else?
