MS1202
Hey Mackie, Thank you for making the best products ever. I was living in Vancouver B.C. when the MS1202 first came out in the early 1990’s and with the exchange rate, it cost over $500. I had to have one! I went down to my local music shop and bought it on layaway (in these credit rich days, some may have to look up that foreign term) with money earned scrubbing dishes at night. Many paychecks later she was finally mine, and greater than I could have imagined. I would just listen to the complete absence of noise the little powerhouse put out. Having invested all my discretionary income in that amazing little mixer left no money for mics. so I would have to rent them for recording and gigs.
When I moved to California in 1995 my only carry-ons were a guitar and you guessed it my MS1202. That board was used at every single gig I ever mixed no matter what FOH board we had. I called it the “Swiss army knife”.
I had a practice space in a basement former walk-in freezer, great soundproofing, lousy circulation. One day I discovered an upstairs burst pipe was performing slow water torture directly above my trusty MS1202. Thinking she was done I turned her upside down on a towel and made my peace. Days later, fired her up, worked fine. Wow! Now I know it’ll have no problem surviving my 1 ½ year old.
