Onyx Compacts
We've been playing as a violin/guitar duo at the Four Seasons on Maui nightly for over 11 years, at a restaurant outdoors, by the ocean. We plug into a $20,000 ambient sound system via our mixing board. In August 2006 I bought the Mackie Onyx 1220 with Firewire option. What an instant sound upgrade from Behringer!! The plan was to make a live album, going out from the firewire into my Macbook Pro and Logic... One night, as we were playing "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin under our little awning, it started to rain. In the middle of a screaming violin solo, I heard a strange sound, and turned to see about 50 gallons of water pouring from the overloaded awning THROUGH the Mackie Onyx 1220. It was literally pouring through the top and coming out the bottom. We finished the song, and I ran to get some towels. Covered up the mixer, puled it into shelter, and finished the gig. Never lost power, never had a problem, and recorded the full live album without a glitch. We'll be releasing it next month.
Thank you Mackie!!! You rock forever!
