Notice the halo around my Mackie CR1604VLZ Mixer. This is because it is actually an angel, and literally saved my life. Here's what happened. We were loading out after a gig at Wick's Pizza on Bardstown Road in Louisville KY. The road is narrow and the pub is located in the club district, so cars were whizzing by erratically. I had flung open the sliding door on my mini-van on the street side and was throwing a couple of crates of wires into the back seat. As I did, the crates banged into the mixer on the far side of the back seat and it started to fall out the door on the other side of the van. I jumped across the seat trying to catch the mixer as it fell out the door - too late. Suddenly, a car creased the side of the mini-van on the street side where I had been leaning in only 2 seconds earlier. If I had been there, I'd have been killed or lost a leg. That was 10 years ago, and I still use the mixer regularly. I've kept the masking tape from that night on the mixer to remind me that this is no ordinary piece of audio equipment. This is a DIVINE BEING!
