My Mackie Onyx 1640 made it possible for me to mix a Finnish electro-duo called “JESSE” at a local, small, radio station with ease. The radio had only a small DJ-mixer, which wasn’t enough for a band consisting of electric drums, a guitar, sampler, drum machine and 5 keyboards. Keeping the amount of channels in mind, and the fact that the studio in the radio was extremely small I decided to bring my own mixer with me.
JESSE had been at that time on some 30 gigs, and the vintage analog synths the band carried with were notorious for sending different mic amps and EQs running for the hills. The 1640 tamed all the synths, samplers and drum machines nicely and the band was able to do a great live show on the radio.
The 1640 performed beautifully and the gig also resulted in a beautiful picture.
