As a long time and exclusive Mackie user, I own a little of everything you make this story speaks volumes about my obsession for live music and your products.
As the father of a working musician I have spent the last ten years bouncing from club to club running sound for my son’s band as well as operating my own sound company all the while thinking the local music scene needed something better.
That something ended up being the cause of the attached picture. I decided to open my own music venue in Concord NC called Mike & Steve’s Place. One week before we were scheduled to open as I was sitting in the floor opening the box to my brand new Mackie Onyx 3280 I had a mild heart attack. As I was going to be on my back for a while, my wife brought me the manual and I learned how to run it while I was in the hospital.
The club opened on time and I ran sound for the first band to play at the place of my dreams, which just happened to be my sons band Mercury Rising, to a packed house using my new Mackie Onyx 3280 console.
Many dreams came true that day, I survived hospital food for a week, my place opened on time, and I got to see my son stand on my stage while I ran sound on my new Mackie console. As they say in the commercial, it really doesn’t get any better than that.
